If you’re someone who loves color, pattern, texture, architecture, stepping back in time and history, super-welcoming women, a wide variety of landscapes, enjoying some of the world’s more exotic and delicious cuisines, getting lost while shopping centuries-old streets/medinas, taking a spin on a camel and sleeping under the stars in the Sahara Desert, Morocco could very well be on your travel to-do list. It was on mine. I toured with National Geographic Photo Safaris two of the three times I’ve been there.
Not to be missed: a stroll through Jemaa el-Fnaa Square. Where else can you find food stands, snake charmers, tooth pullers, monkey tenders, fortune tellers, acrobats, henna hand artists, fire eaters and more? All together in one open-air theater. Marvelous Marrakech!
Here are a few of my favorite images. Many thanks to Mariya for compiling them into a short video.
