Halloween Zombie Jalapeno Poppers

Zombie Jalapeno Poppers are the spookiest way to get your kids involved in indoor Halloween activities on a rainy day. But honestly, they’re so much fun to put together, your little ones will be begging you for Halloween baking fun all week long, regardless of weather. My favorite part of doing this activity as a family is really getting into the spirit of Halloween. How did it begin? Who celebrated it first? And the long journey of this special holiday to the point where we make zombie jalapeno poppers with our children.

Just try it! I perfected this recipe over the years, and with a little elbow grease and research, made it completely foolproof, even for the most modest mom-baker. So get your baking sheet, run to Trader Joe’s, and make your family a smile with these delectable zombie jalapeno poppers. I promise that they are arguably the least messy, most fun thing you can bake this Halloween.

  • 10 jalapeno peppers, sliced in half lengthwise, pith/seeds removed (use rubber gloves so your hands don’t burn from the jalapeno). Leave the stem on some or all the halves.
  • 8oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 8oz jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 scallion (green onion), finely chopped
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 package puff pastry dough
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Black olives, sliced

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Mix the cream cheese, jack cheese, scallion, and salt in food processor.
  3. Fill each jalapeno half with the cheese mixture.
  4. Insert black olives eyes.
  5. Wrap each jalapeno half with the dough.
  6. Brush with egg mixture and place on baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Bake in oven for 8-10 min, until delightfully browned. Remove from oven.
